Position Summary 

Under management direction, the Application Analyst, is highly skilled in the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and works as an IT resource providing technical and operational guidance in design, configuration, data retrieval and deployment of software applications. The Application Analyst is responsible for compiling and maintain data needed by the organization and offering insight as to how to better improve care systems. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • *Performs application software support, analysis, modifications, enhancement, design, implementation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of EHR systems. 

  • *Meets with hospital staff to identify, analyze, and document problems (defects), design deficiencies or enhancements within software. 

  • *Works closely with the clinical design and transformation teams to ensure that the applications and interfaces are designed and implemented based on valid standards and in accordance with sound clinical practice.

  • *Identifies and assists in the resolution of issues that arise within the department relating to the satisfactory operation of the module(s) both during and after installation. 

  • *Maintains system functionality as appropriate to maximize the efficiency of the software.

  • *Works collaboratively with vendor staff to identify process changes, software improvements, and hardware needs to maximize system efficiency.

  • *Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and responds to changing deadlines and priorities.

  • *Stays current on trends and issues in health care, clinical/financial practice, healthcare informatics, CMS and HIPAA standards.

  • *Observe and analyze workflow issues with customers to remediate or recommend changes 

  • *Attends regular face-to-face meetings with clinical and IT staff 

  • *Troubleshoot equipment at hospital sites to resolve issues 

  • *Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

Qualifications 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in related health care setting 

  • 1-3 years in clinical setting 

  • 1-3 years’ experience with EHR 

Education (Indicate required or preferred) 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business or health care related field preferred or equivalent work experience 

Licensure/Certification/Registrations 

  • Valid Driver’s License 

Other Skills/Knowledge (Indicate required or preferred) 

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook 

  • Excellent listening skills, verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively will all levels of the organization 

  • Organizational and analytical skills 

  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions 

  • Ability to respond appropriately to unexpected situations in an even-tempered manner 

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner. 

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment 

  • Possess knowledge of information systems operations and hospital information

  • Ability to work with IT, clinical and business staff to maximize the efficiency of the EHR to support operations
